2,500 miles later, I came full circle, back to my house in Baltimore.
Here's the journey's path:
We did it!!
Now let me take you through the journey with pictures. Since I have not posted each day, I can assure you I have taken photos (almost?) everyday.
None of this trip was planned. We planned our first night in Durham...and we knew we wanted to go meet our friend in Florida. But other then that, we wanted this to be as open as possible. So off we went, in search of warmer weather.
Baltimore --> Durham : five hour drive.
After a night's rest at our good friend's Pierre and Charla's home, we continued on to:
MARIETTA (Atlanta) : five hour drive.
We surprised our friends Celena and Elana, staying in Georgia for two nights. We planned on one night, but after a tiny hiccup...my keys mysteriously disappearing...we ended up in Georgia for an extra day.
Roller skating in Marietta, Georgia.
After an early morning wake-up call (^see above for how brutal it was) we headed out into the 7-degree Georgia freeze in hopes of warmer weather down south...
Georgia --> Tampa, Florida : seven hour drive.
We stopped when we got into Florida to hike and stretch our legs. After it got dark, we continued on to Tampa to Munis's friend Adib, who received us graciously! After Baha'i devotionals, we went and stayed in the most beautiful southern home, at our new friend, Housmand's home.
^Breaking in Southern Georgia.
^Hiking in Northwestern Florida (it was 45 degrees, which felt heavenly to us)
Tampa --> Vero Beach, Florida : three hour drive
We finally found the warmer weather : 73 degrees!!!
^we spent a night camping with our friend Stephen in a campsite between the ocean and an inlet.
From Vero Beach we took our time driving North to Saint Augustine, stopping many places and beaches along the way. (Daytona, Canaveral National Seashore)
Vero --> Saint Augustine : three-five hour drive
^National Seashore where we saw white pelicans and two flamingos.
^chasing these beautiful birds might have been the highlight of the trip.
After seeing dolphins, pelicans, starfish and crabs, that night Munis and I continued on to Savannah.
Saint Augustine --> Savannah, Georgia : three hour drive
...and we found out, after thinking we were crashing on a friends couch...that we were staying HERE:
^a B&B that through Munis's friend MaSovaida, we were SO blessed and spoiled rotten enough to stay in.

And the next morning we woke up and spent the whole day in Savannah...a total of eight hours later then we expected to leave...we loved it that much :)
^Moose, the 200lb mastiff.
^Bonaventure Cemetary
^my wonderful travel companion!
^Savannah
After finally leaving Savannah, we drove until we could drive no more, pulled into a Wal-Mart (free overnight parking, and feel asleep.
Savannah --> Dunn, North Carolina : five hour drive?
Dunn --> DC/Baltimore : four/five hour drive
As our last day came to a close today, and I dropped Munis off in DC to catch a train, sadness overwhelmed me. Munis, a person who I really did not know very well before this trip, quickly became my "traveling soul mate", and I was so glad to have gained another such great friendship in my life.
Traveling places me out of my comfort zone at times, but allows me to be in a state of awe, wonder, and bliss...and this awe I would never trade for the world. I would suggest everyone pick up and go somewhere randomly at least once of year, it's good for the soul!
I am looking forward to where ever I go next...my soul is already wandering and wondering about it's next destination :)
And last but not least, to the people who we have met along the way, the people who were a part of this journey, we love you and thank you for being such beautiful souls. Nothing would be possible without all you who shared your life with us for a day or two :) Lovelovelove, always.
